The scan doesn't do it justice. I spent far too much time on this, and now I'm starting to hate it, but it was one of those pieces where I stayed up intil 2 in the morning working on it just so I could say it was finished.

The idea that was crawling through my head was of the story of the Golem...how it was created from clay to defend the Jews from oppressors, but it quickly got out of control...man playing god/Frankenstein parable, etc. I just sort of imagined a ghost or vengeful dead reanimating itself and putting itself back together with whatever was handy.

Again, it looks much better in person.

Watercolor pencils, ink and white acrylic...8.5"x11"

This is a very detailed and skilled piece, and i understand how you may have develeoped a disliking to it. Whenever i draw something if it doesnt feel whole i get a disliking to it. I found if i emphasize the middle area, and make something more interesting in the middle it would feel more whole, maybe thats why you dislike this, it doesnt lead the eyes around.
ps nice work anyways, crazy detail

I think the reason I was disliking it was because it was 2 in the morning, I had a sinus headache, and I had finally finished it after about 40+ hours of work. I hadn't had much time to do it in any long segment of time, so it was done piecemeal when I had a chance to dabble with it. I think it was the process overall, and not the finished result that left me dissatisfied. If I had the patience right now, I probably would have done even more...added even more texture...filled the whole space. I wanted the the eye to get lost, sort of like the work of Geoff Darrow, especially in Hard Boiled, and Shaolin Cowboy.

Very cool...I think I have one of those living in my apartment right now, except its made of paper and pencils and stuff the cats keep finding under the radiator. But really one a serious note great stuff....lots of thought behind it and it shows. Great work!

:bulletblue: Love your obvious attention to detail here. The depth of the shading is very well shown and developed. I love all the scrap objects that make up this character, very impressive.
:bulletblue: I love the fact that this reminds me of an opening scene in the movie 'The Labyrinth', just after she steps outside her balcony into the next world, she see's a trash creature appear and walk by. Excellent work you have here indeed.

This is very detailed. Very very good art work.
I understand what you mean about scaning, it's just not as good as the hard copy a lot of times.
